Revisions to Navigable Waters Protection Act

In 2012, the Navigable Waters Protection Act was renamed the Navigation Protection Act and key legal protections were removed from over 99% of Canada’s lakes and rivers. The Liberal government has proposed some improvements to the Navigation Protection Act which however do not restore the protection to most of Canada’s lakes and rivers.
