INTERMEDIATE WHITEWATER TANDEM CANOE 2017
This course is aimed at paddlers who have completed the introductory course and novice paddlers wishing to improve their skills. This course builds on the fundamentals of the Introduction to Moving Water course, refining and strengthening these skills as well introducing some more complex manoeuvres. The overall goal of this course is improving boat control. Successful participants will receive Paddle Canada Intermediate Whitewater certification. A partner is not required, pairs will be arranged by instructors.
1 course is being offered in 2017; consisting of a full weekend at Palmers Rapids and a pre-weekend planning evening session closer to trip.
Participants should budget an extra $50-100 for shared transportation and camping costs (food/fees).
Canoe rental is included with course fee. Private boats may be used, but they must be fully outfitted with thigh straps and floatation, and must be pre-approved by course instructor.
The club has paddles, white water helmets and personal floatation devices (PFDs) available for student use. Participants are encouraged to bring their own personal gear if they already own, but you must talk to you instructor prior to the course to ensure your equipment appropriate for whitewater training. If you are considering buying gear prior to the course, you may wish to check with the instructors.
Participants require their own tent and sleeping bag for camping at Palmer’s rapids.
