Whitewater Training

WHITE WATER WEDNESDAY – SOLO 2017

These evening sessions are aimed at both solo and tandem paddlers with some whitewater experience looking to get some early season coaching and time on the water in anticipation of the upcoming season. We will start reviewing and practicing the basic fundamentals and build on those as the weeks progress.

This is perfect for those new to the club, especially those new to the white water list, those members who took beginner training and need a bit more practice to make the list as well as more seasoned paddlers wanting to brush up on technique

 

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • Must have already taken solo beginner solo training have permission of the instructor.
  • Only open to RACCC Club members (See club website for registration information)

 

DATES:

5 week course, May 3rd to May 31st (Wednesday nights), Meet at the shed at 5:30, paddling destination at 6:00.

LOCATION(S):

RA Centre (Map), Various in-town sites (Brewer park, Pump house, Bate Island etc…)

EQUIPMENT:

Canoe rental is included with course fee. Private boats may be used but they must be fully outfitted with thigh straps and floatation and must be pre-approved by course instructor.

The club has paddles, white water helmets and Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) available for student use. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own personal gear but must talk to your instructor prior to the course to ensure your equipment appropriate for whitewater training.

Cold water gear is required. Drysuits are recommended however wetsuits with appropriate layers are acceptable. Please ensure you have a dry set of clothing.
