Whitewater Training

River Reading for Beginner Canoeists

 

Taught by Paul Scriver and Bella Waterton, this course is geared towards beginner paddlers coming off a weekend course. The specific goal for this course is to understand whitewater and how it acts on our canoes. The course will be a mix of on and off water instruction with scouting, hydrology, boat scouting/landmarking, risk assessment(a discussion of hazards and risk) and an intro to using river features to your advantage.

 

  • Maximum 10 students.
  • Course fee is $125
  • Canoe rentals are the student's responsiblity.
  • Camping, gas and food costs are extra.
  • Based on the location, it is recommended that students drive up on the Friday night (carpooling encouraged)
