Judy Patterson was a very active member in the flat water program in the 80s and 90s. She also served as the YCCC's president in 1991 and 1992. Judy was on many of my weekend trips and a few extended trips.

Judy met her husband Doug Goodhew in the club. They were married for 26 years. Doug was advised to quit canoeing about 15 years ago because of ligament issues in his arm. Doug's ailment caused the couple to pull back from doing activities with the canoe club in recent years. But Doug remains very physically active doing cycling, swimming, and other things.

When hearing of her death:

- Paul Hughes responded with: “I had not seen Judy for a few years but remember her fondly. She was a very caring person and looked to help the less experienced members on trips.”
- Mark Scott responded with: “I did not know her well but remember her as being a nice person.”

Judy 2I remember Judy as a caring and supportive person. She was always concerned about hygiene on trips to. Judy insisted that dishes had to be washed and rinsed in sterile water. I used to joke that Judy need drinking water to be double filtered too. She lived a healthy life. It’s just not fair that she should die at such a young age.

She will be missed.
