The Upper Gatineau Whitewater Festival was created to promote the Gatineau River as a whitewater destination and to demonstrate to the local community the vast recreational and touristic potential of this magnificent river. As always, the Festival is aimed at making people and governments aware of the importance of protecting our rivers.

All Festival proceeds go to the Quebec River Preservation Fund (http://www.canot-kayak.qc.ca/index.asp?id=351) of the Fédération québécoise du canot et du kayak (http://www.canot-kayak.qc.ca).

For whitewater enthusiasts: Superb 8 km section of high volume Class III and IV rapids. There are well marked portages at all of the rapids. Breathtaking white rock shoreline. This is the heart of the Festival !

The Festival is held in Maniwaki, located 130 km (80 mi) north of Ottawa, and 330 km (200 mi) north-east of Montréal. Departure for all activities is from the Festival headquarters at the Maniwaki High School.

This is posted as an FYI - I am NOT organizing a club trip to the festival. Please use the WW forum if you would like to coordinate with other paddlers.
