RACCC Family Camp Report August 2017

Family Camp Report August 2017

Camp 2017 7Attending the RACCC Family Camp this summer at Gracefield Camp in Quebec was a highlight for our family! From the skillful paddle instruction, to the canoe day trips, rope/knot practice, archery, swimming, canoe handling, water safety, cinnamon bun-baking camping style, roasting marshmallows, singing songs and tenting, we enjoyed it all!

Learning new paddle strokes was fun, yet hard work and challenging, especially in the solo course. The leadership of Karen, Mark and Dot was professional, yet casual, skillful, efficient and comfortable. They did a fantastic job in leading the diverse group of varying skill levels! Clearly, they love the outdoors and canoeing and their passion is contagious!

Flowing flexibly with the weather was necessary and they did it well! They emphasized safety as well as careful preparedness for trips and of course, skillful paddling technique. We thought the canoe rescues were really fun and they were actually put to helpful use by David and Ben in the middle of the lake!

All in all, we are so grateful for the time which Karen, Mark and Dot spent organizing and teaching us this summer and in such a beautiful park too! Thanks for an unforgettable experience!
