FLATWATER SOLO MONDAYS COACHING EVENINGS: JUNE 2020 (Postponed indefinitely per COVID-19)

Develop techniques to paddle with more control, ease and finesse, and look forward to Mondays!

Prerequisites:
NOT for 'beginner canoeists'

RACCC members, 16 yrs of age minimum (NOTE: Minors must have parents on site)
Paddlers must have effective Stern steering strokes (j-stroke, draws, pries) and have minimum of 20 hrs as stern paddler (tandem).
All participants must be comfortable swimming in deep water with a PFD (‘life jacket’)

Description:
Three evening sessions for paddlers who want to develop their solo paddling skills  through coaching and practice on calm waters, in a low key, encouraging setting, tailored to individual skill levels.

We paddle rain or shine. (but not in Thunderstorms)

Dates/Time:
Two (2) Coaching Evenings: Mondays June 1 and 8,  6:00 – 9:00 PM
     6:00 PM  Everyone meets at the RACC Boat House to organize carpooling, canoes and equipment. (Everyone helps).
                     Participants Carpool to travel to/from our putin. Location:  Patterson Creek (Parking on Linden Terrace)
     6:30 - 8:30 PM Patterson Creek. 
     8:30 - 9:00 We carpool/ return equipment to the Boat House
One (1) Destination Paddle Evening: Monday June 15   Location:   in Ottawa: TBD
Make-up/ Rain dates (course participants only): June 22, 29 (in case any of the evenings are cancelled due to weather)    .

Equipment:
- The RACCC has canoes, paddles and Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs)
- Private boats may be used: to be pre-approved by course instructor.
- Participants bring their own personal gear and be prepared for all types of weather.
- NOTE: We include info on choosing PFD's and Paddles and essential equipment.

Course Fee: $55     (Registration opens in April)  Includes canoe rental.

Please bring additional cash to cover other costs such as parking and sharing transportation.
