FLATWATER TANDEM THURSDAY SKILLS Coaching Daytime JUNE 2020 (Postponed indefinitely per COVID-19)

RACCC members, 16 years of age minimum. (NOTE: Minors need to have a parent on site)
All participants must be comfortable swimming in deep water with a PFD (‘life jacket’)
No paddling/canoeing prerequisites. :-)

Description:
For those who aren't working during the week.  (Bring your lunch!)
This is a structured coaching/instruction session for beginner to advanced paddlers who want to learn more tandem paddling skills, get some coaching and have a chance to practice in a low key, encouraging setting.
Lessons will be tailored to the skill levels of the participants.
The goal is to help all participants learn and develop effective canoeing techniques to paddle with more ease and finesse.
This is a nice opportunity to meet other club members, and potential paddling partners for RACCC outings.
We paddle rain or shine but not in Thunderstorms.

Two (2) Coaching Days: Thursday June 4 and18  (Blacks Rapids)
One (1) Destination Paddle: Location:

     9:30 AM Meet at the Boat House to organize carpooling, canoes and equipment. (Everyone helps).
                   Participants Carpool to our putin.
     10:00 AM - 3:00 PM  Paddling Coaching (Breaks mid morning, Lunch and afternoon)
                                       The afternoon paddling session will be a short/easy outing up the Rideau River to apply what we have learned.
     3:00 -3:30 PM Carpool/return equipment to the Boat House (Everyone helps)

Make-up/RAIN DATES: Thursday, June 11, 25:  in case any of our sessions are cancelled due to inclement weather

Location: Blacks Rapids Lock Station: calm water on the Rideau River\

Equipment:
- The RACCC has canoes, paddles and Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs)
- Private boats may be used: to be pre-approved by course instructor.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own PFD and Paddle.
- NOTE: We include info on choosing PFD's and Paddles and essential equipment.

Course Fee: $60 :   Includes canoe rental and use of paddles, PFDs.
