FLATWATER Canoeing Coaching Sessions: SOLO Mondays 2020

Prerequisites:
NOT for '
beginner canoeists'
RACCC members, 16 yrs of age minimum (NOTE: Minors must have parents on site)
Paddlers must have effective Stern steering strokes (j-stroke, draws, pries) and have minimum of 20 hrs as stern paddler (tandem).
All participants must be comfortable swimming in deep water with a PFD (‘life jacket’)

Description:
This is a structured coaching/instruction session for solo paddlers who want to learn more paddling skills, get some coaching and practice in a low key, encouraging setting per your skill level.


Learn and develop precision canoeing techniques to paddle with more ease and finesse.... and we hope you have fun too!
We paddle rain or shine. (but not in Thunderstorms)

Dates/Time:
Coaching Evenings: Mondays June 1, 8,  6:00 – 9:00 PM
6:00 PM Meet at the RACC Boat House: organize carpooling, canoes and equipment. (Everyone helps).
Participants Carpool to travel to/from our putin.
     6:30 - 8:30 PM We paddle on Patterson Creek. (It is a lovely lagoon off of the Rideau Canal - only 10 minutes from the Boat House)
     8:30 - 9:00 We carpool/ return equipment to the Boat House
Destination Paddle Evening: Monday June 15 (we will choose an intown paddling route to practice our skills - and to see another part of the city, on water!)
Make-up/ Rain dates (course participants only): June 22, 29 
     These evenings will be makeup dates in case of inclement weather during the coaching and destination paddle evenings. 

Location: Coaching Evenings: Patterson Creek (off of the Rideau Canal) - Calm water, within 10 minutes of the RACCC shed
                 Destination Paddle:  TBD

Equipment:
- The RACCC has canoes, paddles and Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs)
- Private boats may be used: to be pre-approved by course instructor.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own personal gear.
- NOTE: We strongly suggest that participants NOT purchase a new PFD or Paddle prior to the course:
              We include info on choosing PFD's and Paddles and essential equipment.

Please bring additional cash to cover other costs such as parking and sharing transportation.
