2020 Paddle Canada Lake Canoeing: Flatwater Tandem Instructor Certification course

PREREQUISITES; 
18 years of age or older  
Current Paddle Canada Lake Canoe Skills Intermediate or Advanced Tandem

Description: 
This course will follow Paddle Canada national instructor certification requirements re: canoeing/paddling skills/knowledge; safety awareness, group management, learning theory, teaching methods, instructor candidates practicum, feedback and homework.
Successful candidates will receive (national) Paddle Canada Tandem Lakewater Canoeing Instructor Certificate: to enable them to officially teach Paddle Canada Lake Canoe Skills Introduction Tandem courses and  Paddle Canada Waterfront Canoeing courses.
More information will be provided to participants by April 22nd.

CERTIFICATION PASS Requirements: 
1. Current: Paddle Canada membership 
2. Attend entire Certification Course
3. First Aid:  16 hr minimum (to be confirmed)
4. Prepare (written) and deliver 6 (??) lessons (2 strokes, 2 maneuvers, 2 theory)    Due in Writing:  May 1st NOON.
5. Pass:  per quality of canoeing paddling skills, knowledge and safety awareness as well as instruction quality, written lesson plans, group management, positive approach.

Saturday-Sunday: May 2-3 AND 9-10,  2020  8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
(NOTE: we will confirm this course by mid April pending COVID19 status.)

Location:  TBD (a paddling location in Ottawa)
