Whitewater Peace of Mind – Solo -- with Carole Westwood 2020


Objective:  This is a course designed to offer you a new outlook on open boating

Date: 20-21 June

Description:  Using athletic focus coaching skills you will be introduced to various ways to develop mind focus to concentrate on the task at hand. We will explore what is real vs. perceived risk, how to manage one’s thoughts in the rapids, to use visualization, and to think clearly from one move to the next. 

Nothing feels better than paddling with ease and control! Carole concentrates on techniques that use the paddle and water features effectively to make the move confidently while conserving energy. We will discuss water reading strategies to harness the power of the water. 

 Of interest to:  Novice (i.e 1 year experience) to Intermediate paddlers

Organization:  All participants will be required to help with planning and logistics such as arranging carpooling and signing out club equipment. You will be eating on the river, so prepare your meals accordingly. 

Minimum age 13
If under 18, the participant's parent or guardian must be present on site.
