A busy weekend at Palmers
A busy weekend at Palmers
June 18th and 19th was a busy weekend at Palmers Rapids with a introduction to whitewater tandem course, an introduction to whitewater solo course and a intermediate solo course. The RACCC course participants were joined by several members and their families who came to play in the water. Getting away from the city and into the river was the theme for the full compliment of happy campers - and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend.
New friends were made, old friends re-connected with, and paddlers introduced to the amazing sport of whitewater canoing. The weekend would not have been complete without great food, a few good swims and the mandatory throw-bag toss which pitted paddlers against each other to see who could toss the bag into a recycling bin.
This is the first of many warm weekends this summer that will see experienced and new paddlers come together to learn from each other and enjoy this sport that not only allows us to see some spectacular parts of the water, but connect with others who share our passion.
A big thank you to all the volunteer instructors who made the weekend not only possible, but amazing. See you on the water soon!
