Winter Seminar - Outdoor Education

Wednesday 03 February 2021, 07:00pm - 09:00pm

Riverlee Hunt will provide a look at the path that brought her to the outdoors, and ultimately how that path took her to the other end of the world in Oceania. From there we will have an inside look at a renowned outdoor education program and the experiences it helped facilitate, and finally, how does it all relate to therapy?

Bio:

Riverlee: Is an outdoor therapy/activity instructor and outdoor educator. Her goals and aspirations are to help foster a deeper connection with nature and its healing benefits, as well as introduce others to new outdoor pursuits and strengthen their passion for these activities. Riverlee loves to white water kayak, hike, and climb mountains. She uses all of these pursuits not just for exercise and fun, but also for the communities and the space that they create for healing. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Brock University. After completing her degree, she went to New Zealand and received her diploma in Outdoor Education from the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Education Centre. Riverlee’s areas of specialization include sea kayak instruction and trip leading, leading and teaching hiking, orienteering, and group facilitation through adventure-based learning exercises/activities. She wants to assist in fostering that life-long connection with nature, and the communities that exist within these activities.

As John Muir once said, “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks”.
